What you will do:

  • Design, build, and own production features in Node.js, TypeScript, and AWS.

  • Model data and ship performant Postgres queries (migrations, indexing, query optimization).

  • Architect multi-region deployments: traffic routing, latency budgets, failover/DR, config & secrets, and rollout strategies.

  • Build for international audiences: i18n/l10n pipelines, time-zone correctness, and data residency considerations.

  • Instrument services with logs/metrics/traces (OpenTelemetry or similar) and drive incident ready observability.

  • Champion accessibility (WCAG aware UI), testing (unit/integration/e2e), CI/CD, and code reviews.

  • Mentor peers, collaborate with Product/Design, and contribute to technical direction.

What you will need to know/have:

  • 3+ years of professional software engineering experience, including significant time in TypeScript and Node.js.

  • Product-oriented mindset, with the ability to create and iterate on both Greenfield features, and features that millions of learners rely on each day.

  • Security mindset (authN/Z, OAuth/OIDC, secrets, OWASP), plus familiarity with FERPA/GDPR implications in edtech.

  • Excellent communication, product sense, and a bias for shipping.

  • Onsite Collaboration Requirement: This role requires working onsite on Tuesday and Wednesday, with Thursday strongly encouraged as part of our company’s in-person collaboration model.

It would be a bonus if you also had:

  • Experience with building LMS tools, especially Canvas
