About the Team

The AP Curriculum and Assessment Team at College Board (110+ staff) collaborates with colleagues across all aspects of the AP Program to develop, manage, and deliver AP’s 40+ courses in a wide variety of subject areas. AP® is a rigorous academic program built on the commitment, passion, and hard work of students and educators from secondary schools and higher education. AP provides willing and academically prepared high school students with the opportunity to study and learn at the college level. AP’s content leads ensure that course curricula are aligned to higher education expectations and reflect the state of the art in the discipline, contribute to instructional resources and tools for teachers, and develop assessments that allow students in these courses to demonstrate their mastery of course content and skills.

About the Opportunity

As Senior Director, Advanced Placement, Curriculum and Assessment, Operational Effectiveness, you will play a critical leadership role within the Operations and Change Management team, a core function of the Advanced Placement (AP) Curriculum and Assessment division. In this position, you will partner with over 100 subject matter experts responsible for designing and evolving AP courses and exams, and collaborate across all AP divisions—including Instructional Design, Strategy, Delivery, Assessment Production, Outreach and Access, and Technology. You will set the vision for and lead the development of operational systems that drive clarity, consistency, and scalability across complex, high-volume workflows. By architecting integrated tools, resource models, and content systems, your work will directly enable more effective planning and delivery of AP courses and exams—ultimately supporting over 1 million students annually as they take more than 6 million AP Exams in pursuit of college-level learning and credit.

In this role, you will:

Architect Knowledge and Content Management Strategy for the AP Curriculum and Assessment Team:

(30%)

Design and drive the vision for a comprehensive knowledge management system that ensures secure, centralized, and intuitive access to institutional knowledge across AP C&A.
Establish enterprise-aligned standards and frameworks for content capture, classification, and governance to ensure information is discoverable, reusable, and sustainable.
Champion a documentation culture by defining long-term strategies and structures for internal knowledge sharing in partnership with Professional Learning and Talent Development.
Set the strategic direction for a best-in-class process documentation model, embedding clarity, consistency, and workflow integration at scale.
Partner with senior subject matter leaders to define core operational workflows, identify system gaps, and steer the continuous refinement of foundational process assets.
Lead the enterprise-wide adoption of a unified, authoritative source of operational truth, reinforcing standardization and compliance across all initiatives.
Architect a digital file structure and naming convention framework that scales with organizational growth and supports high-quality content stewardship.
Design and execute a change enablement strategy to drive adoption and institutionalization of the file architecture across partner teams.
Set the governance model for ongoing audits, ensuring digital organizational systems evolve alongside strategic priorities and enterprise demands.

Lead Resource Strategy and Capacity Planning for the AP Curriculum and Assessment Team: (30%)

Create and scale a forward-looking resource management model that aligns staffing decisions with shifting strategic priorities and organizational demands.
Develop and oversee a resource forecasting strategy that anticipates workload challenges, ensures equitable distribution, and informs high-level planning decisions.
Define strategic prioritization frameworks to guide leadership in resource allocation, balancing urgent needs with long-term impact.
Build integrated systems and dashboards to monitor resource utilization and surface insights that inform decision-making across C&A and AP leadership.
Embed resource intelligence into core planning tools (e.g., Super Calendar, capacity models) to create visibility into staffing, dependencies, and delivery risk.
Identify cross-divisional capacity impacts and lead enterprise-wide discussions to proactively address constraints, tradeoffs, and interdependencies.

Innovate and Scale Operational Tools and Infrastructure to Enable High-Performance Execution: (30%)

Establish and lead the strategy for an integrated operational tools ecosystem that drives consistency, coordination, and efficiency across the AP C&A organization.
Set the vision for the future state of the Super Calendar and other enterprise planning tools, ensuring they are aligned with evolving business needs and scaled for cross-functional utility.
Lead the modernization and continuous evolution of operational toolsets through enterprise level audits, user-centered feedback loops, and best-in-class practices.
Ensure C&A’s tools and platforms are embedded in divisional planning frameworks, enabling seamless integration across functions and initiatives.
Oversee the development of adaptable, scalable solutions to support project tracking, workflow automation, and team-wide collaboration.
Partner with C&A Professional Learning to drive organizational capability building, ensuring all staff are enabled to fully leverage operational platforms.

Drive Strategic Alignment and Operational Integration Across Cross-Functional AP Initiatives: (10%)

Serve as the strategic lead for AP C&A’s participation in enterprise playbooks, frameworks, and cross-functional initiatives—ensuring operational alignment and visibility.
Lead strategic partnerships with peers across AP to shape integrated governance models, shared goals, and streamlined collaboration protocols.
Standardize operational best practices across teams and divisions through cross-functional toolkits, templates, and knowledge-sharing forums.
Represent AP C&A in strategic planning forums to elevate dependencies, surface risks, and align delivery timelines across shared workstreams.
Analyze and communicate intersections between C&A initiatives and divisional priorities, equipping leadership with insight to drive data-informed planning and alignment.

About You

To qualify for this role, you must have:

A Bachelor’s degree, at minimum. Master’s degree preferred.
7-10 years' experience as a strategic, systems-oriented leader with a track record of architecting and scaling operational tools that support complex, cross-functional teams.
Experience using Smartsheet to build and manage project planning, workflow automation, task tracking, and visual dashboards across diverse stakeholders.
Proven success developing resource management and forecasting tools that align staffing with evolving priorities for large, multi-disciplinary teams.
Strong cross-functional acumen with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments such as content, technology, strategy, and executive leadership.
Demonstrated executive presence, with the ability to influence, align, and support peers and senior leaders while fostering a culture of trust and accountability.
