Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in MIS, Computer Science, or related field required; position hired at Level I (entry), Level II (2+ years experience), Level III (4+ years experience), or Senior level based on qualifications and experience. Equivalent combination of education and practical experience acceptable.

Compensation: $75K–$105K/yr (estimated)

Responsibilities

  • Design, analyze, document, create, test, automate, secure and manage efficient and robust enterprise production, development and staging systems from architecture through service, including prototypes to advance institutional needs
  • Work with a variety of vendors, partners, teams, and customers to define enterprise hardware, software, cloud, and other system functional specifications
  • As needed, perform cost-benefit analyses and explore options and alternatives on proposed systems, upgrades and improvements
  • Identify and implement designs that reduce complexity
  • Create and update online support documentation using online tools and procedures
  • Analyze tools and methods and identify areas for improvement
  • Perform regular audits of security, performance, and compliance on systems and software
  • Document and respond to escalated system/design level service requests and resolve incidents
  • Provide user-friendly, secure, accurate and dependable systems and support to all persons (including technical peers) while providing follow-up to ensure their satisfaction with the systems, services, and solutions rendered
  • Stay up to date on industry directions and opportunities to advise USU on systems and services futures
  • Identify system support / administrative issues that can be automated or transitioned to service desk personnel and help them develop the skills needed to support such systems and issues
