Role Snapshot

The Classroom Facilitator supports interactive video conference (IVC) classes at Utah State University's Moab Campus by operating classroom equipment and assisting students and instructors. This role ensures effective classroom operations and serves as a liaison between students and university staff.

Key Responsibilities: Operates classroom equipment for IVC classes, manages classroom materials, proctors exams, maintains attendance records, and greets students at the front desk. Communicates effectively with students, instructors, and administrators through various channels and performs administrative tasks as assigned.
Skills & Tools: Exceptional communication and listening abilities both verbal and written, strong organizational skills with attention to detail, and proficiency with computer systems including email, Microsoft Office, and USU software. Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal abilities, cultural sensitivity, reliability, and the ability to multitask and adapt to changing work assignments.
Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent is implied; no specific degree required. Must be a dependable, self-motivated team player with strong work ethic and willingness to learn new skills.

Compensation: $18/hr

Job Description

The Classroom Facilitator will work at the Utah State University campus in Moab. Hours may vary depending on need, and will be scheduled anywhere between 7:30 AM to 10:30 PM Monday through Friday, and Saturday 7:30 AM to 1:00 PM, and other times as assigned. Hours will be less than 28 hours per week, and may change each semester. This position reports to the Director of Students. This is an ACA variable position.

Responsibilities

The classroom facilitator performs a variety of functions in a classroom setting. Duties include:

  • Assisting students and instructors by operating classroom equipment that is essential to the delivery of interactive video conference (IVC) classes.
  • Communicating effectively face-to-face, over telephone, on IVC equipment, via electronic communication tools, and in writing.
  • Using a computer to check email, and to access USU software systems, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
  • Distributing and collecting classroom materials, proctoring exams and quizzes, and maintaining a proper quiet learning environment.
  • Maintaining accurate class rolls, attendance records, and classroom materials tracking procedure records.
  • Acting as a liaison between students and University instructors and administrators.
  • Greeting students and patrons at the front desk, and directing them to the appropriate resources.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes. The employee is regularly required to sit and often uses repetitive hand motions. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and may lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
