Role Snapshot

The OPS Assistive Technology Coordinator evaluates, implements, and manages technology solutions to help individuals with disabilities live, work, and learn independently. This position serves the North Central Regional Demonstration Center service area and performs AT services under the Florida Alliance for Assistive Services and Technology (FAAST) contract agreement.

Key Responsibilities: Provides device demonstrations, loans, training, and information for assistive technology products; maintains accurate inventory of AT devices; responds to service requests promptly; develops outreach activities; and collects/submits required data for programmatic reports. Must travel a minimum of 2 days per week to multiple Florida counties.
Skills & Tools: High attention to detail with ability to create thorough reports; excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills; strong facilitation and presentation abilities; excellent customer service skills; proficiency with Information Technology Systems; and ability to function as a team player.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field, OR equivalent education and experience demonstrating success in essential functions; 3-5 years of experience with Information Technology Systems; and experience working with people with disabilities. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.

Job Description:

The Assistive Technology Coordinator evaluates, implements, and manages technology solutions (hardware/software) that help individuals with disabilities live, work, and learn independently. This position will work in the North Central Regional Demonstration Center (RDC) service area. This role performs AT services as outlined in the Florida Alliance for Assistive Services and Technology (FAAST) contract agreement.

The Assistive Technology Coordinator’s primary responsibility is to provide assistive technology (AT) to people with disabilities who live in the North Central Regional Demonstration Center (RDC) service area. This role performs AT services as outlined in the Florida Alliance for Assistive Services and Technology (FAAST) contract agreement.

Programmatic:

  • Provides device demonstrations, loans, training, and information for products, equipment, and systems that enhance learning, working, and daily living for people with disabilities[
  • Maintains an accurate and up-to-date inventory list of AT devices.
  • Responds to requests for services promptly.
  • Develops and conducts programmatic outreach activities.
  • Maintains and updates local, state, and federal resources to enhance independence outcomes.
  • Maintains a professional and positive attitude.

Administration:

  • Complies with all policies and procedures per the FAAST Contract Agreement.
  • Actively participates in all staff meetings, training opportunities, and other activities as required.
  • Ensures compliance by following established policies and procedures outlined in the FAAST grant.
  • Ensure confidential handling of all consumer information.
  • Maintains accurate and current data and information within FAAST databases.
  • Collects, compiles, and submits all required data elements for programmatic reports per the FAAST Contract Agreement.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

  • Work is performed in an office setting, primarily at the UF Center for Autism and Related Disabilities.
  • Mandatory travel at a minimum of 2 days a week to the following Florida Counties: Alachua, Bradford, Columbia, Dixie, Gilchrist, Hamilton, Lafayette, Levy, Marion, Suwanee, Union
  • Essential physical requirements: standing, typing, lifting a maximum of 35 lbs.

Advertised Salary:

25.28/hr.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field, OR education AND experience that demonstrates success in the essential functions of the position.
  • Experience working with people with disabilities.
  • 3-5 years of experience with Information Technology Systems
  • Must have a reliable means of transportation and willingness to travel, as travel is a requirement of this position
  • High attention to detail and ability to create thorough and detailed reports
  • Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Facilitation and presentation skills
  • High customer service skills
  • Ability to function as a team player
  • Must have a Valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Therapeutic Services (i.e., occupational therapy, speech therapy, and physical rehabilitation)
