Summary

Director of Engineering to lead Quizlet's global community strategy, defining how learners, educators, and creators connect and thrive while ensuring high-quality participation and trust. This role shapes community programs, governance systems, and contribution models across Quizlet's learning platform serving tens of millions of students.

Key Responsibilities: Define and own long-term community strategy for learners, educators, and creators; establish participation principles and belonging frameworks; translate community needs into scalable programs and policies. Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Trust & Safety, Legal, and Marketing teams to ensure community experiences scale responsibly and drive meaningful engagement and learning outcomes.
Skills & Tools: Strong cross-functional partnership capabilities, deep understanding of online communities and user-generated content systems, and experience with AI-assisted community experiences. Proven ability to design systems, incentives, and policies that foster high-quality participation at scale.
Qualifications: Over 10 years of experience in community management or user-generated content systems with a proven track record of leading teams. Demonstrated expertise in maintaining trust within community frameworks and managing complex community ecosystems.
Location: Hybrid (Onsite) in San Francisco, California, United States; requires minimum 3 days per week in office (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday)
Compensation: $250,000 – $356,754 / annually
