Role Snapshot

The Assistant Principal of STEM at KIPP Middle School serves as a key member of the school leadership team, driving academic and social-emotional learning outcomes while functioning as an apprentice leader being developed for future school leadership roles.

Key Responsibilities: Lead instruction and school culture initiatives, support STEM program development, mentor emerging school leaders, and collaborate with the School Leader to implement academic and behavioral strategies that improve student outcomes.
Skills & Tools: Instructional leadership and curriculum knowledge (particularly in STEM), school culture development, staff coaching and mentoring, data-driven decision-making, and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Qualifications: Typically requires a Master's degree in Educational Leadership or related field and 2-3 years of classroom teaching experience; valid state administrative credential or willingness to pursue one required.
Location: In-Person - Redwood City, CA
Compensation: $110K–$155K/yr (estimated)

Position Summary 

At KIPP Public Schools Northern California, we believe that Assistant Principals are our future school leaders. We actively develop Assistant Principals for School Leadership and feel the Assistant Principal should consider themselves as an apprentice to the School Leader. The Assistant Principal should gradually build capacity to lead a KIPP school. 

The Assistant Principal’s job is to support the school in driving academic and social emotional learning outcomes for students as a key member of the school’s leadership team. Assistant Principals are expected to lead both instruction and school culture, while developing the skills of the school's emerging leaders.
