The Payroll Specialist – APAC manages end-to-end payroll processing across 15+ countries in the Asia-Pacific region, ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely payroll delivery for Turnitin employees across multiple legal entities.

Key Responsibilities: Process multi-country payroll transactions including new hires, terminations, compensation changes, and deductions using CloudPay and PayAsia/Deel platforms while maintaining compliance with country-specific statutory requirements. Perform payroll reconciliation, variance analysis, tax reporting, year-end tax form issuance, and coordinate cross-functional collaboration with HR, Finance, Legal, and Benefits teams.
Skills & Tools: Proficiency in payroll processing software (CloudPay, PayAsia/Deel), multi-country tax compliance knowledge, strong analytical and reconciliation abilities, and excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management.
Qualifications: Typically 2-4 years of payroll or accounting experience with exposure to multi-country payroll processing and tax compliance requirements. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and familiarity with payroll systems and regulatory environments preferred.

Job Description

The Global Payroll team at Turnitin is responsible for delivering accurate, compliant, and timely payroll across 15+ countries and 18 legal entities worldwide. The Payroll Specialist – APAC is responsible for managing end-to-end payroll processing across the Asia-Pacific region, ensuring compliance with country-specific statutory requirements while supporting a positive employee experience. The primary customers of this role are Turnitin employees across APAC, supported by payroll vendors CloudPay and PayAsia/Deel. This role works cross-functionally with the HR/People, Finance, Legal, and Benefits teams. 

Responsibilities:  

  • Maintains end-to-end payroll workflows to ensure all transactions — including employee job changes, one-time payments, deduction changes, garnishments, compensation changes, new hires, terminations, inter-company transfers, and final payments — are processed accurately and in compliance with country-specific statutory requirements. 
  • Manages multi-country payroll processing across APAC regions utilizing CloudPay, ensuring timely and accurate payroll delivery across multiple legal entities. 
  • Completes payroll reconciliation following a thorough review of payroll input and audit reports, including variance analysis and sign-off documentation. 
  • Works with payroll vendors and regional tax authorities to ensure compliance with all reporting requirements and ensures payroll taxes are paid and reported to the appropriate jurisdictions in a timely manner. 
  • Assists with preparing and filing tax reports and gathering payroll data for inclusion in financial statements and audits. 
  • Coordinates the year-end process for assigned APAC regions to ensure timely and accurate issuance of end-of-year tax forms. 
  • Partners cross-functionally with HR/People, Finance, Legal, and Benefits teams to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll-impacting changes. 
  • Responds timely and professionally to employee and stakeholder inquiries. 
  • Identifies and escalates payroll discrepancies, vendor issues, and compliance risks to the Senior Manager of Global Payroll in a timely manner.
