Key Responsibilities: Daily responsibilities include staffing assessment and task assignment to minimize downtime, monitoring wave progress to ensure 95%+ on-time order completion, coordinating emergency replenishment with forklift and replenishment teams, escalating operational issues within 1 hour, and participating in process improvement initiatives. The role also involves training personnel, assigning zones based on workload priorities, and managing rush order fulfillment.
Skills & Tools: Required skills include leadership and team management abilities, problem-solving and issue escalation, proficiency with warehouse management systems and inventory tracking software, and familiarity with computer systems. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential for coordinating across multiple teams and maintaining operational efficiency.
Qualifications: High school diploma or GED is required, along with 2+ years of experience in a warehouse, picking, or shipping environment. Leadership experience is preferred but not required.

Team & Position Description:

The Pick Module Lead is responsible for ensuring each day’s workload is completed with minimum downtime and maximum efficiency and other split pick fulfillment activities at the Learning Resources Warehouse in Vernon Hills, Illinois. This includes, but is not limited to, customer order picking, checking, packing activities, and daily assignments to support these activities. The Pick Module Lead will monitor and coordinate picking and replenishment activities in the Forward Pick Module (3 Level Mezzanine). The Pick Module lead will assign tasks, train personnel, and facilitate changes within the Pick Module.

What We're Looking For (Key Performance Objectives):

  • Daily Staffing & Task Assignment
  • Accurately assess daily staffing needs and assign tasks/zones based on workload priorities, ensuring 100% coverage of operational areas with minimal downtime.
  • Wave Monitoring & Order Prioritization
  • Monitor wave progress throughout the shift to ensure 95%+ of orders are completed on time, with rush orders prioritized and fulfilled within designated timeframes.
  • Emergency Replenishment Coordination
  • Collaborate with Forklift Leads and Replenishers to maintain optimal stock levels in the Pick Module, reducing ‘hold’ item downtime by at least 20% month-over-month.
  • Issue Escalation & Communication
  • Identify and escalate operational or personnel issues to management within 1 hour of occurrence, maintaining a log of incidents and resolutions for continuous improvement.
  • Process Improvement Participation
  • Actively participate in process improvement initiatives, providing actionable feedback and supporting implementation with at least one suggestion adopted quarterly.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or GED required
  • Experience: 2+ years in a warehouse, Picking, or shipping environment; experience with a warehouse leadership role is a plus.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with computers, warehouse management systems (WMS), inventory tracking software, and label printing systems. 
  • Leadership Skills: Strong ability to direct and motivate a team.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to quickly address issues and maintain workflow efficiency.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Standing, walking, and bending for extended periods.
  • Operating warehouse equipment, such as pallet jacks.

Compensation Range: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour - Actual compensation may vary due to other factors such as: years of experience, skill set, or location. Total compensation includes profit sharing bonus potential, 401k matching, and a variety of other benefits (details can be found here).
