Summary

Lead strategic internal communications at KnowBe4 to strengthen company culture and advance business objectives while serving as a trusted advisor to executive leadership. This role shapes employee engagement and organizational messaging across all internal channels.

Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement comprehensive internal communication strategies, advise the C-suite on messaging, create company-wide announcements and newsletters, and foster two-way communication between leadership and employees. Manage crisis communications plans, measure communication effectiveness through metrics, and collaborate with HR on employee engagement initiatives.
Skills & Tools: Strong strategic communication skills with proven ability to advise executive leadership, expertise in crisis management, and proficiency with AI-driven technologies and internal communication platforms. Demonstrated collaboration abilities with HR and cross-functional teams, plus experience with intranets, community platforms, and sales enablement software.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, English, or related field required with a minimum of 10 years managing strategic communications programs at cybersecurity or high-growth technology companies. Prior experience scaling companies from $500M to multi-billion in revenue, working with executive leadership, and managing crisis communications in a B2B SaaS or cybersecurity industry setting.
Location: Remote (US-based candidates only) with hybrid arrangements in Clearwater, Florida and approximately 15% annual travel to Tampa Bay headquarters and company events.
Compensation: $140,000 – $160,000/year

The Director of Internal Communications leads strategic employee communications that strengthen KnowBe4's culture and advance business objectives. This role serves as a trusted advisor to the C-Suite, Human Resources, and other internal teams while ensuring clear, consistent messaging across all internal channels.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive internal communications strategies aligned with KnowBe4's organizational goals and culture in close collaboration with the CHRO and HR team
  • Serve as the primary communications advisor to the executive leadership team (ELT)
  • Lead the creation and distribution of company-wide announcements, newsletters, and key messaging such as the daily briefing every morning
  • Craft communications for major organizational changes, initiatives, and critical business updates
  • Foster two-way communication channels between leadership and employees
  • Measure and analyze the effectiveness of internal communications through metrics and employee feedback
  • Collaborate with HR on employee engagement initiatives and communication of benefits information
  • Partner with external communications, the PR team to ensure message consistency across all audiences
  • Create and maintain crisis communications plans for internal audiences
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen company culture through strategic communications
  • Ensure communications adhere to KnowBe4's brand voice and human risk management mission
  • ~15% travel annually to company headquarters in Tampa Bay, other company offices, and events as appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field such as Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, English required
  • Minimum 10 years of experience managing strategic communications programs and teams at cybersecurity or high growth technology companies.
  • Prior experience at companies scaling from $500m to multi-billion in annual revenue
  • Demonstrated experience working with and advising executive leadership.
  • Demonstrated successful track record collaborating with Human Resources for internal communications.
  • Prior experience in cybersecurity or B2B SaaS industry
  • Proven track record of success in managing crisis communications/issues appropriately
  • Experienced using AI-driven technology 
  • Prior experience with intranets, posting on communities, and sales enablement software

The pay for this position ranges from $140,000 - $160,000, which will vary depending on how well an applicant's skills and experience align with the job description listed above.
