Director of Business Intelligence & Analytics who will establish BI architecture, standards, and self-service analytics capabilities to support Turnitin's revenue operations and field productivity at scale. This strategic leadership role reports to the VP of Revenue Operations and directly impacts business decision-making across the organization.

Key Responsibilities: Develop and execute BI strategy aligned with company objectives, establish BI architecture and governance standards, and lead the design of self-service dashboards and KPIs for key personas. Manage a team of BI analysts and data quality specialists, collaborate across business units to translate requirements into BI solutions, and ensure data integrity and accessibility for enterprise decision-making.
Skills & Tools: Expert proficiency in BI tools and platforms, data architecture, SQL, and analytics; strong strategic thinking, leadership, and cross-functional communication abilities; proven capability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders and drive data governance and self-service enablement.
Qualifications: Typically requires 10+ years in business intelligence, data analytics, or related fields with 5+ years in a leadership or director-level role managing analytics teams. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Business, or related discipline; experience with enterprise BI platforms (Tableau, Power BI, Looker, etc.) and cloud data environments highly preferred.

Compensation: $160K–$240K/yr (estimated)

Job Description

We are seeking a Director, Business Intelligence & Analytics (BIA) to report to the Vice President of Revenue Operations. This individual will establish a BI architecture and corresponding standards that promote self-service analytics while offering world-class capabilities that scale with business growth. The rapid evolution of market drivers and business growth necessitates the maturation of enabling tools and data structures that will scale effectively with the field organization’s needs and deliver continuous improvements in field productivity.

As the subject matter expert for Business Intelligence and Analytics, you will support and collaborate closely with field teams and operational teams, instituting leading practices for enabling and supporting business analytics by leveraging various BI tools. The Director will lead a team of Business Intelligence & Analytics Analysts and Data Quality Specialists.  

A heavy emphasis will be placed on developing self-service BI and dashboard capabilities, and delivering business value through the design and implementation of analytic solutions. The ideal candidate is also fluent in technology and BI applications, able to assess the current technical environment, and develop BI solutions to meet business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership:

    • Develop and execute a BI strategy in alignment with the company’s objectives, focusing on scalable, self-service analytics and dashboard solutions.
    • Establish BI architecture and standards that promote information accessibility while instituting appropriate authorization safeguards.
    • Guide data sourcing optimization, governance, policies, security, and tools to ensure a "trusted single version of the truth" for decision-making.
  • Operational Excellence:

    • Develop/define a comprehensive set of business key performance indicators (KPIs).
    • Define, implement, and monitor BI infrastructure and standards; develop and manage vendor relationships for external BI toolsets.
    • Gather requirements, working effectively across teams to identify data gaps, aid in the creation of new/modified report prototypes, and build automated reporting solutions.
    • Design and document the BI model for key role personas spanning Turnitin, including sellers, sales management, executives, and operations staff.
    • Shape the long-term vision through documented statements of BI Strategy that also facilitate enhanced business decision-making, direct investment, and optimize field productivity.
    • Work side-by-side with the Business Planning & Operations group to co-develop and continuously improve business reporting and analysis.
    • Develop intuitive self-service business performance dashboards that encompass key metrics to support global requirements.
    • Audit and ensure the cleanliness/completeness of data.
    • Assist in the preparation of data and analysis for Quarterly Business Reviews.
    • Provide thought leadership and drive innovation through strategically-oriented BI design and enablement of the enterprise business intelligence portfolio.
  • Collaboration and Communication:

    • Work closely with business users, stakeholders, and broader Go-To-Market and Revenue Operations teams to translate business needs into BI initiatives.
    • Communicate effectively across multiple technical and non-technical business units, as well as across different geographies.
    • Present complex data analyses and insights to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and actionable manner.
  • Team Development:

    • Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing BI team, including data analysts, data engineers, and BI developers.
    • Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and data-driven decision-making within the BI team.
