Position Overview

The Admissions Coordinator will join the National Admissions team from May through August 2025 in a temporary role. This role will help to ensure candidates continue moving through the admissions funnel. This role will report to the Interim MD of Admissions, with support from members of the National Admissions Team.

Location: Flexible 

Hours: 20-30 hours per week 

Wage: $24 per hour 

Start Date: May12, 2025 through August 22, 2025 

Job Description

Selections Interview 

  • Conduct up to 10 interviews with candidates weekly to assess readiness for service, aligned with City Year’s core values and requirements.
  • Provide feedback and recommendations for candidate progression based on interview evaluations within 24 hours of interview completion. 
  • Serve as an interviewer for sites with the highest need, ensuring that the candidates are scheduling and completing interviews. 

Application Reviews 

  • Serve as an initial application reviewer by utilizing Competency and Behavior Assessment tool to support Admissions Staff with application reviews. 
  • Evaluate candidates based on established criteria to ensure alignment with City Year’s mission and AmeriCorps member expectations.
  • Consult with interim VP or National Admissions Counselor on candidates scheduled for rejection prior to officially rejecting candidates at application review. 

Interview scheduling support 

  • Create views via Admissions System (TargetX) to track candidates who haven’t scheduled their selections interview
  • Support interview scheduling by sending additional emails, text messages and phone calls for candidates who haven’t scheduled their selections interview
  • As appropriate, offer additional times directly from your work calendar to help get the interviews scheduled/completed

Reference Form Follow Up, all 30 locations 

  • Responsible for follow up communication(phone call, text, email) to all candidates to ensure reference forms are completed
  • Using TargetX system, update or add new reference contact information as needed. 
  • Facilitate phone calls and emails to candidate references directly to ensure reference is filled out to completion; at times inputting information via phone for references during a phone call reference check.

Admissions Strategic Project Support 

  • Work with the NAC staff to update network wide interview training and interviewing resources for FY26 to ensure high-quality and consistent candidate assessments from interviewers.
  • Partner with NAC and Talent Management staff to create onboarding admissions materials for new staff hires. 
  • Support other strategic projects as needed throughout contract. 

Qualifications

Youare:

  • Passion for national service and commitment to fostering a strong AmeriCorps cohort.
  • Experience in admissions, or program coordination, preferably in education, nonprofit, or mission-driven environments.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with a variety of groups in a remote work setting.
  • Exceptional presentation skills, with the ability to deliver engaging and persuasive messages in both group and one-on-one settings.
  • Proficiency in managing multiple priorities and projects, meeting deadlines with attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems, applicant tracking systems, or related tools is preferred.
