Qualifications: Advanced undergraduate or graduate student with interest in education research, data analysis, or workforce development. Prior experience with research projects, surveys, or data collection is preferred but not required.

Job Title: Intern, Data Research
Location: United States
Duration: 3–6 months, with possibility of extension
Compensation: Unpaid

Hours: Flexible scheduling up to 10 hours per week (or dependent on number of credits if applicable)

Position Summary:

We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Data Research Intern to support ongoing research and evaluation projects on vocational education and training programs and their components, including admissions and in-course learner behaviors. This role is ideal for an advanced undergraduate student or a graduate student interested in gaining hands-on experience with data collection, analysis, literature reviews, and report writing in non-traditional educational spaces

Key Responsibilities:

  • Projects include (but are not limited to): evaluation of a new instructor's in-course dashboard, social support service impact on learner success, and exploration of learner admission trends.
  • Review literature related to workforce development programs or vocational education training programs
  • Assist with qualitative and quantitative data collection (e.g., surveys, interviews, focus groups)
  • Clean, code, and analyze datasets using Excel, R, or similar software
  • Support the preparation of reports, presentations, and other dissemination materials
  • Maintain accurate records of research activities
  • Attend project meetings and contribute to discussions and planning
  • Perform administrative tasks related to research as needed

Qualifications:

  • Current 3rd or 4th year undergraduate or graduate student in a relevant field (e.g., social sciences, education, psychology)
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Has completed an introductory course in research methods
  • Proficiency with Google Office products (Google Sheets, Google Docs, etc) and Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with literature databases (e.g., JSTOR, PubMed, Google Scholar)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work

Preferred Skills (not required):

  • Experience with statistical software such as R is a plus
  • Interest in adult education, education policy, or workforce development
