Summary

Part-time 1099 freelance Standards Aligner responsible for aligning IXL English language arts content to state and international educational standards, textbooks, and curriculum resources used by millions of teachers and students globally.

Key Responsibilities: Interpret educational standards, identify relevant IXL skills to meet standard goals, analyze skill progressions across grade levels, format alignments in Google Sheets, research standards, and collaborate with curriculum designers to refine alignments.
Skills & Tools: Strong knowledge of English grammar, K-12 education terminology, and curriculum standards; proficiency with Google Sheets or Excel; excellent attention to detail, organization, and independent work capability; clear communication skills.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in English, linguistics, education, or related field with 1+ years of experience aligning content to state standards and demonstrated experience working across multiple grade bands.
Location: Remote, United States
Compensation: Not provided by employer. Typical compensation for this role is $35,000 – $55,000/year based on title, seniority, and location.

Job Description

IXL Learning, developer of personalized learning products used by millions of people globally, is seeking a part-time Standards Aligner to join our content development team. In this role, you will be responsible for aligning IXL English language arts content to state and international educational standards, sections of widely-adopted textbooks, and other curriculum resources. These alignments will be used by teachers across the nation and around the world to design their lessons and track their students’ progress. #LI-REMOTE

This is a 1099 consulting role that is remote for 6 months with possible extension.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Accurately interpret state educational standards and curriculum documents
  • Identify the IXL skills that best help students meet the goals of each standard or textbook section
  • Analyze progressions of skills and standards across grade levels
  • Format alignments as Google spreadsheets
  • Assist in researching state and international education standards
  • Incorporate and apply feedback to revise work as needed
  • Collaborate with curriculum designers to determine the best possible alignments

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, linguistics, education, or a related field
  • 1+ years of experience aligning content to state standards
  • Strong working knowledge of K-12 education terminology
  • Experience working across multiple grade bands
  • Strong knowledge of English grammar
  • Basic knowledge of Google Sheets or Excel
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and organization
  • Ability to work independently and meet due dates
  • Clear and consistent communication skills
