Summary

Touchstone Grader for IT/Programming at Sophia Learning evaluates student work against rubrics and provides constructive feedback to support learning outcomes. The role combines quality assurance with instructional support in a remote-capable position.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required; Master's degree preferred. Current or prior high school or post-secondary teaching experience in IT/Programming is essential.

Compensation: $19.50 – $29.75/hour (approximately $40,560 – $61,880/year based on full-time 40-hour weeks)

Job Description

Graders evaluate submitted student work for content, competency and adherence to the instructions and rubric. Graders are held to efficiency and quality goals.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Accurately read and measure student performance based against a grading rubric.
  • Collaboratively work with the Lead for the course(s) to provide the student with constructive, supportive and concise feedback.
  • Complete grading rubrics and leave detailed feedback and comments for the learner.
  • Check student submissions for plagiarism and for grammar.
  • Provide in-context feedback and scoring using the Sophia-provided rubric.
  • Participate in calibration efforts to ensure consistency of quality for our learners.

Work Experience:

• Current or prior HS or Post-secondary teaching experience in IT/Programming.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required; Master’s degree is preferred.

  • Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time.
  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
  • Typical office setting.
  • Mobility within the office including movement from floor to floor.
  • Travel via plane, car, and metro may be required to perform this job.
  • Must be able to work more than 40 hours per week when business needs warrant.
  • Access information using a computer.
  • Effectively communicate, both up and down the management chain.
  • Effectively cope with stressful situations.
  • Strong mental acuity.
  • Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this job.
