The Facilities Coordinator assists with internal office operations, relocations, and furniture management at First Book, a nonprofit dedicated to providing educational resources to underserved communities. This role provides essential building services support to ensure an organized and functional workplace.

Key Responsibilities: Assist with office relocations, furniture acquisition and installation, conference room setup, storage facility maintenance, and equipment installation. Perform furniture assembly, repair, and removal as needed, along with general office support tasks.
Skills & Tools: Strong written and oral communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs and comprehend simple instructions.
Qualifications: High school diploma or GED required with at least two years of office manager or building assistant experience. Physical capability to lift up to 30 lbs and work in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation: $25/hr

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Facility Services Coordinator is responsible for assisting with internal office relocations; acquiring and installing office furniture; maintaining the storage facility; assembling, repairing, destroying, and removing office furniture; and providing building services support as needed by the Facilities Manager.

 

WHAT YOU’LL OWN

  • Assist staff with general office needs. (Installing whiteboards, bulletin boards, pictures, etc.)
  • Assist with internal office moves
  • Assist with the acquisition of office furniture
  • Responsible for conference room setup for all-inclusive staff meetings
  • Maintain storage facility
  • Transport office files to storage facility as needed
  • Assemble, repair, destroy, and remove office furniture from FB office space as needed
  • Install office equipment as needed. (shredders, a/c unit, water dispenser, refrigerators)
  • Prepare vacant office for incoming staff
  • Other office and facilities duties as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS (Baseline requirements and physical/functional capabilities)

  • Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment



EDUCATION (Formal credentials only)

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)



SKILLS & EXPERIENCE (Demonstrated competencies and prior work history)

  • Two years of office manager or building assistant experience
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs

 

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:



Total Rewards - In compliance with the District of Columbia Wage Transparency Act, First Book will provide the pay range for this position to applicants upon request or as part of the job posting.



Hourly Rate: $25.00
