About the Role: The Account Executive increases and maintains permissions revenue from pharmaceutical agencies and other accounts via the RightsLink sales channel and direct customer contact. They deliver efficient service for customers needing permission to reuse Wiley material, manage relationships with key accounts and rights organizations, and identify strategic opportunities for Account Managers to develop licensing partnerships. The role supports annual permissions revenue targets across Wiley's global content portfolio. Job Responsibilities: Respond to inbound sales inquiries from pharmaceutical and agency customers, including key accounts and regional leads. Support Account Managers with customer activities and account coordination to ensure strong client engagement and seamless operations. Manage and track customer requests using partner platforms such as RightsLink, PLS Clear, Kopinor, and UpToDate, along with Salesforce. Process orders, resolve customer inquiries, and deliver tailored licensing solutions based on customer needs. Manage a portfolio of pharmaceutical agency and permissions accounts, identifying opportunities to drive revenue growth through upselling, cross-selling, and expanded licensing solutions. Monitor licensees and transactional permissions activity to identify new business opportunities and support pipeline development. Assist with prospecting new markets and generating licensing opportunities in collaboration with Account Managers and global licensing teams. Conduct basic contract and licensing negotiations within established guidelines, templates, and rate cards. Collaborate with Account Managers and leadership on high-value, customized, or complex licensing agreements. Serve as an escalation point for urgent customer matters, including monitoring RightsLink and PLS inboxes and routing inquiries appropriately. Research copyright ownership and rights information to support licensing and permissions activities. Maintain knowledge of pharmaceutical permissions requirements, including marketing and medical education use cases. Stay informed on trends in content licensing and customer needs to help ensure Wiley’s offerings remain competitive and relevant. Maintain accurate account, pipeline, contract, and activity data within Salesforce and internal rights management systems. Provide regular updates to management regarding customer activity, sales opportunities, pipeline progress, and market insights. Contribute to achieving monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets while delivering a high level of customer satisfaction. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in a relevant technical, scientific, or business field preferred. Experience in sales, account management, licensing, or customer relationship management. Proven experience negotiating and closing licensing or commercial agreements. Understanding of different sales models and the ability to tailor solutions based on customer requirements. Ability to analyze sales data and reporting to identify trends, business opportunities, and areas for growth. Strong negotiation skills with the ability to work within established contractual and pricing guidelines. Demonstrated ability to execute against strategic objectives and achieve strong results in prior roles. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong relationship-building abilities. Strong technical and computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience using CRM platforms such as Salesforce. Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
