A full-time 1st Shift Yard Hostler/Spotter responsible for safely positioning trailers at assigned loading/unloading doors and staging areas at Lakeshore Learning Materials' Garland, Utah facility during a period of company expansion.
Key Responsibilities: Stage trailers to assigned doors, clean and sweep trailers as needed, maintain continuous communication with supervision, report truck issues, and ensure compliance with all safety protocols and equipment usage.
Skills & Tools: Forklift or yard equipment operation, trailer spotting and positioning, attention to safety procedures, clear communication with supervisors and team members, and basic equipment maintenance awareness.
Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent preferred; prior experience as a yard hostler, spotter, or in warehouse/logistics operations helpful but may not be required for candidates with strong safety records and mechanical aptitude.
Location: In-Person - Garland, UT
Compensation: $28K–$36K/yr (estimated)
Job Description
In a time of unprecedented expansion, we are seeking a 1st Shift Yard Hostler to join our team. This is a full-time Yard Hostler/Spotter at our Garland, Utah. Yard Hostlers/Spotters are responsible for the safe placement of assigned trailers to their assigned doors and staging areas.
A day in the office looks like this:
- Staging trailers to their assigned loading/unloading doors
- Cleaning and sweeping trailers as needed/instructed
- Maintaining communication with supervision throughout the shift
- Communicating all truck issues observed to supervision
- Conforming to all safety rules and using all appropriate safety equipment
