Lead the strategic development and scientific direction of Advanced Mobility, an open-access journal within Wiley's Material Science & Physics – AI/Robotics cluster. Drive journal visibility, attract high-quality submissions, and ensure ethical publishing standards while building a strong community of authors and reviewers.

Key Responsibilities: Manage peer review processes and manuscript decisions, establish and maintain networks of scientists as authors/reviewers/board members, drive content acquisition and submission growth through networking and outreach. Represent Wiley at conferences and research institutions, collaborate with internal teams on journal portfolio development.
Skills & Tools: Strong scientific research background with expertise in smart cities, autonomous vehicles, sustainable mobility, or related mobility domains; excellent communication, networking, and strategic thinking abilities; knowledge of publishing landscape and best practices in academic publishing.
Qualifications: PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer/Transport Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, Information Science, Transport, or related field with excellent research background. 2+ years of post-PhD work experience (postdoctoral, industrial, academic, publishing, or international) preferred but not essential.

About the Role: We are seeking a dynamic and ambitious Editor-in-Chief with a PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer/Transport Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, or Information Science, Transport, or a related field. The role will focus on the open-access journal Advanced Mobility within the Material Science & Physics – AI/Robotics cluster, working closely with Advanced Intelligent Systems and sister journals. This role entails using your scientific research background, knowledge of the publishing landscape, and strong communication and networking skills to drive the strategic development of one or more journals, raising the profile and visibility of the journal(s) in the community, and attracting new authors and content. The Editor-in-Chief is expected to actively participate in conferences, institute visits, and broader outreach activities. They will also manage the peer review process and make decisions on submitted manuscripts. Importantly, the Editor-in-Chief ensures the adoption of best practices and the highest ethical standards in publishing. How you will make an impact Strategically develop one or more journals, together with the wider in-house team, from scientific and publishing perspectives within the context of the broader physical sciences and engineering journal portfolio. Establish and maintain a strong network of scientists who are the journals' authors, peer reviewers, and board members. Leverage your network, knowledge of the subject area and its development, and desk research skills to drive content acquisition and submissions growth. Represent Wiley and the physical sciences portfolio at conferences and through in-person and virtual outreach activities at universities and research institutes. Collaborate with colleagues across departments to develop the journal portfolio. Contribute to the editorial evaluation, peer review, and decision-making for manuscripts submitted to one or more journals. What we look for A PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer/Transport Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, or Information Science, Transport, or a related field. with an excellent research background and a strong understanding of recent trends and developments. 2+ years of post-PhD work experience (Post-doctoral, Industrial, Academic, Publishing, and/or international experience) would be beneficial but not essential. Subject matter expertise in fields such as Smart Cities, Smart Grids, sustainable mobility, Autonomous and Connected Vehicles, Mobility as a Service, Logistics and Freight Mobility, and/or related fields Strong teamwork and communication skills, with a flexible and innovative approach to problems and a focus on defining and achieving outcomes. Ability to work in a collaborative setting and achieve results through personal influence and engagement. A self-motivated, diplomatic, and flexible approach with outstanding organizational, efficiency, and time management skills and an excellent command of the English language (both written and verbal). A strong understanding of scientific publishing, including commissioning and the peer-review process. Prior experience in publishing, editorial, or science communication and understanding of Open Access workflows and Open Research is highly desirable. A keen interest in science and science communication, and a strong desire to advocate for innovations in publishing and open research.
