Skills & Tools: Proficiency in Vue.js and Ruby on Rails, system architecture design, strong problem-solving abilities, mentorship and leadership capabilities, knowledge of AI tools for development, and excellent collaboration skills with cross-functional teams.
Qualifications: Significant experience as a full-stack engineer with demonstrated expertise in both frontend and backend development, proven track record of owning complex technical projects and mentoring others. Experience with scalable system design and strategic technical planning required.
Location: Remote - Remote LATAM
Compensation: $140K–$190K/yr (estimated)

The Role

As a Senior Full Stack Engineer at Apptegy, you’ll play a key role in shaping the architecture, performance, and scalability of our platform that supports thousands of school districts nationwide. You will own the delivery of reliable and high-performing software, working across the full stack with Vue.js (frontend) and Ruby on Rails (backend) to create intuitive and seamless user experiences. A core part of this role is designing, building, and owning shared infrastructure that the broader engineering team builds upon.

You will collaborate closely with product and design teams to turn complex challenges into elegant, functional solutions. Technical Execution & Strategy

  • System Architecture & Development: Take responsibility for designing system architecture, ensuring scalability, security, and performance. Design, develop, and maintain complex full-stack applications.
  • Strategic Alignment: Collaborate with product managers and business leaders to align technical efforts with business goals, making significant contributions to strategic planning.
  • Process Optimization: Optimize development processes by decomposing large, complex tasks into manageable units of work, ensuring efficient execution.
  • Problem Solving: Proactively anticipate and resolve technical challenges using a solutions-focused mindset. Integrate AI tools for coding, debugging, and refactoring, leveraging structured prompts and collaborative patterns to ensure high-quality, efficient outputs.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Mentorship: Actively mentor junior engineers, sharing knowledge and ensuring best practices are followed throughout the development cycle.
  • Code Quality: Lead code reviews with a focus on high-quality, maintainable code that aligns with project standards, limiting defect rates.
  • Collaboration: Work effectively within teams, valuing diverse perspectives and improving cross-team collaboration to manage timelines and resources effectively.
  • Communication: Proactively share ideas, progress, and questions with stakeholders to ensure alignment, while clearly explaining complex technical decisions and their implications.
