Business Development Representative for Nelnet Business Services focused on retaining existing customers and acquiring new ones in the Western/Midwestern United States through consultative sales and relationship building. This role sells payment technology, education services, and learning management solutions to education and faith-based organizations.

Key Responsibilities: Close deals in a consultative selling environment, up-sell existing customers through product education, cold call and generate qualified sales leads, create proposals, and maintain CRM records in Salesforce. Develop sales forecasts and plans to achieve sales goals while providing expertise on product and service offerings.
Skills & Tools: Excellent verbal and written communication with ability to establish rapport quickly and maintain long-term relationships; proficiency with Salesforce CRM; comfort with direct sales, cold calling, and web-based presentations; high energy, positive attitude, and team-oriented mindset.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in business, communications, marketing, or related field (or equivalent experience); 1-3 years of experience creating and maintaining business relationships via telephone. Customer service, call center, education, or payment industry sales experience preferred.

The Business Development Representative’s primary focus is to either retain or re-establish relationships with existing customers and to acquire new customers through a consultative sales and relationship building approach, using excellent customer service. This position has minimal travel with most communication occurring via phone, e-mail, internet-based seminars/meetings, etc. This position typically works in a single market and sells peripheral and value-added products along with some sales and lead generation of flagship products to smaller schools. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Close deals in a highly competitive, consultative selling environment. 2. Up-sell to existing customers through education and providing additional product knowledge of software and services or new products and services. 3. Cold call and generate qualified sales leads. 4. Create proposals for targeted prospects or existing customers. 5. Provide expertise and advice to potential prospects and current customers regarding product and service offerings. 6. Use Salesforce CRM to maintain records of contacts, accounts, leads, opportunities, updating, and report generation. 7. Forecast and prepare sales plans to achieve sales goals. Pay range for this role is: $50,000-$60,000 plus commission EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in business, communications, marketing or a related field or a combination of education and related experience. EXPERIENCE: 1. 1-3 years of experience creating/maintaining business relationships via telephone phone. 2. Customer service and call center experience a plus. 3. Proven track record of high performance and achieving goals. 4. Experience presenting via the web and in-person to both small and large groups. 5. Experience in education or payment industry sales (particularly with technology and service sales) a plus. COMPETENCIES – SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES: 1. Willingness to engage in direct sales and customer calling. 2. Articulate with the ability to establish rapport quickly with customers and maintain long-term relationships. 3. Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills while displaying a high energy level and positive attitude. 4. Team-oriented. 5. Comfort in initiating business conversations with decision makers. 6. Ability to Identify and develop strategies to overcome obstacles in the prospect’s or current customer’s decision making process. 7. Ability to build a strong pipeline, close new business and expand relationships with new and existing customers. 8. Self-driven with excellent time management and organizational skills and the ability to take direction well 9. Strong computer skills including sales management/data management software, presentation software, web hosting applications, and MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook). 10. Strong follow-up skills and accuracy.
