Summary

The College Board seeks a Senior/Staff Engineering Director to lead the Core Assessment Platforms group, overseeing multiple teams while advancing technical and organizational objectives in a mission-driven environment supporting millions of students.

Key Responsibilities: Provide technical leadership to engineering managers, establish engineering standards, foster collaboration across teams, and align multi-team roadmaps for assessment platform systems. Guide complex technical decisions, prioritize improvements that reduce risk or unlock momentum, and ensure alignment with long-term architectural and strategic objectives.
Skills & Tools: Strong technical judgment, exceptional communication skills, expertise in software architecture, and proven ability to build and develop high-performing teams. Experience with cloud-native engineering practices and platform modernization is essential.
Qualifications: Minimum 10+ years of software engineering experience with substantial leadership experience managing teams. Demonstrated expertise in cloud-based applications and platforms required.
Location: Remote from United States of America, with occasional travel to NYC or Reston, VA. Candidates near College Board offices may choose full-time remote or hybrid schedule (Tuesday/Wednesday in office).
Compensation: $170,000 โ€“ $200,000 / annually
