Summary

Senior Assessment Specialist focused on enhancing SAT Essay and ACCUPLACER scoring operations through expert-level assessment expertise and quality assurance. This is a 2-year full-time term position supporting high-quality writing assessment initiatives at The College Board.

Key Responsibilities: Conduct expert-level SAT Essay scoring and backreading to verify machine-generated scores while maintaining calibration accuracy, and develop/review ACCUPLACER and ESL content aligned to national standards. Monitor scoring patterns, identify discrepancies, and communicate complex assessment issues to cross-functional teams.

Skills & Tools: Strong analytical abilities, mastery of scoring rubrics, exceptional communication skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Office. Deep expertise in writing assessment, English language arts, attention to detail, and ability to apply expert judgment consistently.

Qualifications: Master's degree in a related field and 4-6 years of experience in K-12 or K-16 direct writing assessment preferred. Expertise in writing, language, and educational assessment required.

Location: Remote from Virginia, United States. Candidates near College Board offices may opt for hybrid work (Tuesday and Wednesday in office).

Compensation: $68,000 – $100,000/year
