An editorial team member responsible for creating culturally informed Career and Technical Education curriculum materials for grades 6-12. The role combines educational expertise with editorial processes and project management to develop engaging, standards-aligned instructional content.

Key Responsibilities: Contribute ideas during project planning, match state standards to CTE content, evaluate vendor work against certification objectives, ensure assignments meet project specifications, and maintain accurate status updates on deliverables. Work collaboratively with managers and supervisors while meeting deadlines and maintaining positive communication regarding feedback and performance.
Skills & Tools: Strong organization, time-management, and written/verbal communication abilities. Proficiency with MS Office, content management systems, learning management systems, and familiarity with editing standards (Chicago Manual of Style preferred). Knowledge of differentiation strategies, scaffolding for multilingual learners, UDL principles, and ability to work effectively with ambiguity and constructive feedback.
Qualifications: Bachelor's or graduate degree in education, curriculum, history, economics, English, science, or related field. Work experience or internships in education, publishing, or digital curriculum preferred, with experience in CTE materials and creating materials for middle/high school students.
Location: United States
Compensation: Not provided by employer. Typical compensation for this role is $48,000 – $65,000/year based on title, seniority, and location.

Job Description

We are seeking an editorial team member who is committed to creating new, culturally informed curriculum materials that engage today’s students who are studying the range of content in Career and Technical Education.

The Editor will use their educational background and curriculum knowledge, in combination with on-the-job training in editorial processes and project management, to aid the development of new and innovative instructional materials for grades 6-12.

The Editor executes assignments to meet the quality standards for the project. The Editor position requires strong organization, time-management, and communication skills.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Contributes ideas during project planning.
Works with managers to learn parameters of the job.
Can match state standards and certification objectives to relevant content in the CTE program.
Can apply knowledge of state objectives and certification testing blueprints to content and to the evaluation of a vendor’s work.
Learns and follows established procedures and company policies.
Seeks guidance or clarification from supervisor when objectives or directions are not clear.
Ensures that completed assignments match project specifications.
Shows growth over time in response to supervisor’s direction and coaching.
Meets deadlines for all assignments.
Maintains positive communication with immediate supervisor regarding feedback on assignments and job performance.
Refers all decisions with budget or schedule implications to immediate supervisor for advice and action.
Provides accurate status on all assignments.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

Work experience or internships in the fields of education, publishing, and digital curriculum are desired.
Experience working on CTE materials preferred.
Experience creating materials for middle and high school students.

Formal education or equivalent

Graduate or undergraduate degree with majors or minors in any of the following: education, curriculum, history, economics, English, Science, or related fields.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES

Familiarity with today’s youth, popular culture, and what motivates youth to learn.
Proficient user of software programs including MS Word, Content Management Systems, Learning Management Systems, digital technology programs, Excel, and Power Point and Google equivalents.
Knowledge of differentiation strategies, scaffolding for MLL students, and UDL (content accessibility).
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
General familiarity with editing, grammar, and following a style guide, such as Chicago Manual of Style, is preferred.
Ability to set relevant priorities on a daily basis as the job requires multi-tasking.
Ability to complete assigned tasks on time with the required level of quality.
Ability to utilize constructive feedback to refine skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team.
